Happy 11th Birthday to our Fin!

Anyone with an old Bloodhound can certainly relate with this. Today was a day that I was unsure would come. Old Bloodhounds sadly are not very common as their average lifespan is 8-9yrs. It truly is a blessing to have an old one in your life. This guy, *my most very special boy to me,* has had his ups and downs battling arthritis and the effects of long term prednisone usage, which provides him quality life, but today was a big day! Happy, HAPPY 11th Birthday to my Fin who we love so dearly! He’s had a great and busy day. He started the day with a couple of bites of bday canned food treat and the traditional bday bandanna adorned. We went to GrandMary’s (my mom) where lunch chicken pot pie bites were shared and enjoyed with Mom, Tom and our adorable niece Peyton who was anticipating his bday visit. She helped to sing Happy Birthday to him as we shared mini cupcakes that Mom got for him. Then tonight we enjoyed the traditional McDonald’s Birthday cheeseburgers for all the dogs at home. Even the drive thru girl wished him a happy day! What an extra special day for one extra special boy. He’s now completely exhausted just like an old man and probably two pounds heavier but who cares when you have a day like today to celebrate?!

A training day in SC

We had a great time going to a training day in Columbia, SC hosted by Melissa Byrd. Photos, taken by her, are of Michael and Visa practicing in all urban areas with a trail that was over 24 hours old.

A visit from the neighbors!

We had a fun puppy playtime with a couple of the neighbors and their kids come to play this afternoon!

Such a special time …

Puppies are a LOT of work but they are so rewarding. These pictures say it all without saying a thing. It’ll be hard to see these guys go to their new homes and we will miss them! Photo credits to Michelle Ashpole – thank you!

We have puppies!

After close to three years, our whelping box is full of love again! We had two breedings planned for 2018. One was to be mid summer and the other in the fall. Turns out both of the girls waited to cycle together. After much thought process, and decisions best for them not to skip their cycle, we planned and prepared for two litters. On 9/16 we welcomed (overnight while Hurricane Florence was blowing through!) 12 new liver/tan puppies from Grace & Merlin (Australian imported semen) and on 9/22 we welcomed 4 (two red/two black&tan) puppies from Bunny & Chase! We are crazy busy with these babies but enjoying them greatly!

AKC Online Interview Published!

We were contacted not long ago by a representative at the American Kennel Club asking for an online interview about Bloodhounds and our breeding program. At first we were unsure if we wanted to do it, wondering if we could do it justice but we are glad we did. It’s fun to now see it online. Enjoy!

Love is in the air …

It’s been 2.5 years since our last litter and we have breeding plans for this summer. Stay tuned for more cute puppy pics coming ahead! 🙂

The pesky puppy!

Grace is truly a saint when dealing with puppy Sterling. She is most patient and happy to play with her. Here’s a fun shot from our play time outside!

Sniff … sniff … what is she sniffing?

Sniff … sniff … sniff … what is she sniffing? Who knows?! LOL! Grace is on the trail of a bunny or squirrel or something in our yard. This girl’s nose is always down and in use!

Happy Easter from Sterling!
