We strive to breed our Bloodhounds to excel not only in the show ring but also as a working Bloodhound. By breeding dogs that closely conform to our breed standard, naturally they make structurally sound and healthy working dogs as well. It is incorrect to think that a breeder should breed for “drive” because all Bloodhounds possess the desire to mantrail. Some Bloodhounds show more exuberance and working potential but that should be left up to the breeder to find that puppy to place in a suitable working home. We often are asked by folks looking for a puppy if our dogs are from ‘working lines.’ The answer is yes. Actually, any breeder should be producing sound dogs that come from parents who conform to the AKC standard, have been tested for health screenings through OFA<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and have working dogs in their lineage. Truly, any breed but especially Bloodhounds should not be a divided breed where there are ‘working lines’ and ‘show lines.’ To only support  either is a detriment to our breed as a whole.<\/p>\n

We take great pride that the majority of the dogs we own in our own home, and several of the dogs we have bred\/co-bred, who may not live with us, are excellent working dogs. Though the ones who don’t work in harness are just as important to us, it is, after all, what the breed is supposed to do! We have placed many puppies in working homes, used in active Search and Rescue. Many of them are also titled in some way with American Bloodhound Club’s mantrailing titles.  You may see those titles listed as MT<\/em> (man-trailer), MTI<\/em> (man-trailer intermediate) and MTX<\/em> (man-trailer excellent) in their registered names.  To read more about the American Bloodhound Club trailing title levels\/trial information, click here<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. Some of the dogs we’ve bred also enjoy AKC tracking. They are skilled working Bloodhounds, many who are pictured working below. We are so very proud of them and happy to share with you here!<\/p>\n
