2022 Westminster Kennel Club Best of Opposite Sex Winner!

Landis won this second to the Best in Show Winner Bloodhound ‘Trumpet!’

Landis is the baby girl that we kept from our Grace/Merlin litter and we are very happy with her! Not only is she sweet and congenial in all situations, she’s built exactly like we love our bitches to be! She exudes breed type yet is not overdone, still has a clean healthy eye and ample furnishings to go along with it. She’s a happy go lucky girl, with a little bit of bossy to her. 🙂

In mid 2021, we decided that we’d let Landis go and try out the show world with handler Kasey Von Engel. This was the first dog we’d ever sent out with a professional handler. We were not able to get to the shows and we knew that she was definitely worthy of finishing her AKC championship, if she wanted to show. We were unsure if she would because of Covid she had not really been to shows before. Not only did she decide she loved to show, she took 2021 by storm, totally unexpected!

Landis finished 2021 ranked as the number one bitch in the country and the only female invite to Westminster Kennel Club 2022. Landis has not been specialed a lot but has had quite a career in a very short time. In one year’s time she obtained her CH, GCH, GCHB, PBC regional SB (as a newly minted CH the day before!), Hound Specialty BOS, ABC 2021 National SB, multiple group placer, Royal Canin BOS, Westminster BOS and ABC 2022 Top Twenty finalist. She loves to show and primarily has been handled by Kasey Von Engel or Zack Helmer.

She is also healthy, passing all OFA CHIC tests – hips good, elbows normal, echo clear, DM normal! Currently Landis is enjoying being home and hopefully looking toward motherhood in the near future!

This is a very special photo to us. This is Michelle Ashpole, from Australia, who owns Landis’ sire, Merlin. She attended the 2022 American Bloodhound Club National Specialty and was able to assist in showing Landis at the Prarielands Bloodhound Club Regional Specialty, the day after the National Specialty. With her assistance, they won a beautiful Award of Merit together!
